IGDA's Localization SIG
The International Game Developer’s Association (IGDA) takes play quite seriously! The non-profit organization has over 90 chapters and Special Interest Groups (SIGs). Today, we’ll focus on one of these: the Localization SIG (LocSIG)
The group publishes best practices papers for both beginners and experts alike. Maybe it’s your first time launching a game in a foreign market. You might need to know “Is your game ready for localization?” and if not, where to start. Their detailed Best Practices for Game Localization paper runs the gamut from “culturalization” of content, to programming and product architecture, to voice over recording and Linguistic Quality Assurance (LQA).
If you are interested in keeping abreast of the localization (l10n) industry, LocSIG also publish a monthly newsletter that features perspectives of industry insiders.
