Microsoft Building Localization Directly into Visual Studio

Microsoft released the Multilingual App Toolkit (MAT) 4.0 at the beginning of February 2016. Over at Slator you can read their full take on how MAT enables Microsoft to integrate localization and Machine Translation (MT) tools directly into their Visual Studio IDE.

MAT 4.0 is a prime example of how localization has shifted over the past decade from industry afterthought to an indispensable, integral part of modern, globalized application development. To make simultaneous worldwide releases possible, localization is increasingly part-and-parcel of development toolchains and software process management. For instance, Slator also spotted how IBM embedded localization services, dubbed the IBM Globalization Pipeline, into its Bluemix Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) offering back in December 2015.

In an ever-evolving myriad of languages, development environments, toolchains, and CI/CD platforms, what tools and techniques have you employed to automate and keep up with your localization and translation needs? Contact us at projects@e2f.com. We’d be interested to know!
