Why does "much" look like "mucho"?
The English word much and the Spanish word mucho have pretty mucho the same meaning, but their etymologies are very different. They are called false cognates.
The English version much derives from Old English micel, itself deriving from Proto-Germanic mikelaz.
The Spanish version mucho comes from Latin multum.
So the fact that they have pretty much the same meaning and very similar spellings is very mucho random, unless you believe in linguistic destiny!
