Women in Localization
Spotted in Slator: Eva Klaudinyova (@eva_klaud), on top of being a co-founder and Executive Board member, was just named as the Chair of Women in Localization (WL) (@WomeninL10N). Eva has a long history of managing localization and globalization efforts at leading Silicon Valley tech companies including VeriSign, VMware, and Apple. She co-founded Women in Localization in 2008 to “promote women who work in the localization industry through networking, mentoring, and education.” The organization, which does not charge membership dues, has grown to over 2,000 members around the world and is working on its official not-for-profit status in the U.S.
The organization helps promote career opportunities for women as well as hosts a number of events throughout the year. For instance, just yesterday they announced they will work with GALA to host a series of Women in Localization sessions in the Localization Management Track at this year’s GALA 2016 conference, to be held in New York City on 20-23 March 2016.
Oh, and by the way, in case anyone was feeling left out, WL’s website makes clear, “men are always welcome to any of our events around the world, provided that they support Women in Localization’s mission and policies.
